Leesburg, Florida — The Leesburg Lightning are back at Pat Thomas Stadium tonight to open up a three-game series against the DeLand Suns. First pitch is at 7:00pm.
Leesburg has had success against DeLand so far in the season — winning four out of the five games played.
Wes Weeks (St. Johns River State) opened up the top of the sixth last night with a pinch hit double to spark a three run inning for the Lightning. Weeks has hit the ball all year and it’s great seeing his hard work paying off. He will be in the two hole for tonight’s game.
“Wes takes good cuts out there,” Lightning head coach Rich Billings said. “I was confident that balls would stop falling because he keeps hitting the ball hard. He is getting back to his old self, that’s great to see.”
Michael Ray (Lee University) is on the hill tonight for Leesburg. Ray has found success against DeLand — recording two wins a combined seven innings of work. He has allowed two runs on two hits with two strikeouts against them so far.
“Michael needs to compete,” Billings said. “If he does that, he will be fine.”
