7/22/15 @ Winter Garden Squeeze: Pregame Quotes and Notes

Winter Garden, Florida — The Leesburg Lightning turned the corner and are on the home stretch toward the end of their 2015 season. With only a week and a half to go in the regular season, the Lightning need to buckle down. Their first stop — the Winter Garden Squeeze.

Lightning head coach Rich Billings knows how important these games are to end the season.

“Now it’s time to turn it up a notch,” Billings said. “We have a couple tough series coming up, especially this one tonight against a very dangerous team.”

Billings continues to change up the lineup. He is trying to put the best lineup out there day in and day out.

“The guys who are swinging the bat well are in the top of the lineup,” Billings said. “We need to get them the most at-bats. Hopefully, that works out for us.”

Michael Ray (Lee University) is on the mound tonight for Leesburg. Ray has pitched well so far and Billings doesn’t expect anything less.

Billings’ Key Points

-our goal should be to win out, we need to take it one game at a time

-our destiny is in our own hands

-there’s no backing into a first or second place spot, we need to finish strong and earn it
